Request a Review
To stay connected with the people, I have decided to take requests for reviews that you the people want. If there is a film you want reviewed that i haven't (since i just started reviewing, odds are i haven't) either leave me a comment on one of my reviews, or preferably email me at atn5022@psu.edu. I check my email often so i should get your request quickly. Thanks for reading and i hope i can provide you with adequate information.
Lakeview Terrace
Samuel L Jackson is one of my all time favorite actors. He's a total bad-ass in everything he is in. Lakeview Terrace is no exception. The rest of the film leaves something to be desired though. I know the 2 main characters argued a lot but they just didn't seem to work well together, the chemistry was not there. As for the plot, it was a bit on the weak side. Until the final half hour, the two men fought back in forth in a lame series of backstabs. One thing the film did do well was make the audience sympathetic to Samuel L. Jackson's vindictive Abel Turner. All i can say is the final half hour of the movie was actually pretty decent with the final back-and-forth creating some compelling drama. All in all, Lakeview Terrace was a decent movie, so I will recommend it, just don't expect miracles.

My First Review: Rec
For my first review i shall be discussing the Spanish horror movie, Rec. I took an interest in this due to the American remake arriving October 10th, so i felt it necessary to see the original. Rec is a fresh take on an old idea. The film uses a news reporter shadowing a group of firemen for the evening as their form of visual media, much like the movie Cloverfield, even though Rec came out in 2007. In all honesty, very few horror movies actually give me a fright, even less so for movies with zombies and the living dead. Rec was a rare exception. I found myself jumping several times during the intense 3rd act. Though it doesn't bother me, it may some people, the movie is obviously in Spanish with English subtitles. The lead actress, Manuela Velasco did an excellent job as the charismatic, hard working, and later frightened, reporter. What sets this movie really above the pack is the camera work. It feels more realistic, makes they subject more relatable (as much as a movie about infected zombies can be relatable). Some people may not like the camera during the especially intense moments where the camera is very shakey, and understandibly so, but i thought it added to the whole experience. In leu of not giving any spoilers, I must conclude my review.
Rating: A
I highly recommend this film, espcially before the american remake, Quarentine, comes out October 10th. I am intrigued to see how that turns out.
Make sure to come back and check for more reviews coming soon. If you have any comments or question on any of my reviews, feel free to email me at: atn5022@psu.edu
